Macworld 2008 Predictions
There is some speculation of new products we might see at Macworld ’08. It’s difficult to pin it down. Apple came out with a handful of new products last year, including Leopard, the iPhone, the Apple TV, a new line of iPods, new line of iMac’s and a new line of Mac Pro’s (last week). So what else could Apple possibly introduce ?
My assumption is that there will be some discussion of a 3G iPhone, possibly show off a prototype. Steve Jobs may introduce Blue Ray drives in a new ultra thin Mac Book line which may have built in flash memory for the operating system. We will probably see the intro of iTunes movie rentals. There may be a new Apple TV coming out that have a TV Tuner and the ability to rent movies through iTunes directly from the user menu. And finally, we may see a new line of Apple Cinema Displays that might tie into the whole Apple TV deal. We may also see a new Mac Mini or it will be discontinued entirely.
I would also suspect Apple will announce a new firmware for the iPhone which will include 3rd Party Application support, cut/ paste and customizable screen icons settings. Off course would require an iTunes update for the 3rd party application support.
Steve may mention the new Mac Pro’s just released. We may also see some more gaming support in Leopard, which will be followed up by some CEO’s coming out on stage.
I don’t think we will see a new 3G iPhone next week, but something to expect in the future, possibly Spring or early Summer.
